Site A is the existing Bertie Park recreation ground. Site B is land behind Wytham Street.

The new recreation area and site B will be connected by a huge bridge. They’ve said this will improve access for wheelchairs and pushchairs …
… but the footpath will be mown. This is supposed to make up for the loss of Bertie Park. Most of site B will be fenced off. Plans say that “the maintenance regime will be the same as current,” with “additional planting of brambles” to prevent people from straying off the path.

What will the new recreation area be like?
70% of its current size. But that doesn’t count the space taken up by the disabled access, the slope to prevent homes from flooding, the trees which count towards the biodiversity targets, and seating for local residents.
